The department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1999 with an undergraduate programme (Four Year) in Chemical Engineering. The department has eminent faculties from IIT Delhi, IIT BHU, NIT Jalandhar, AMU, BIT Sindri, HBTI Kanpur, etc. The department aims to provide advanced teaching and research facilities to the students to enable them to create and apply innovative technologies in chemical process and energy based industries as well as efficiently utilizes their knowledge and skills to find solution of problems related to such industries. The department has been engaged in the development of academic teaching and research infrastructure, creation of laboratories in analytical/instrumental analysis, modeling and simulation and hydrocarbon engineering.

Active Active research work is going on in the different fields of chemical engineering for many years. The department successfully organized a national conference on energy and environmental issues related to chemical industries (EECheml-2012) in association with Indian institute of chemical engineers (IIChE), Kanpur Regional Center, Kanpur from February 18-19, 2012. Delegates from all over India (10 states) participated to find workable solution of energy and environmental problems related to chemical industries.

Invite talks are delivered in every semester by eminent personalities from various industries and academic fields. The department also arranges vocational training and industrial tours in different industries, to know the practical aspects along with theoretical knowledge, for the students. The personality development and chemical software programme classes for the students are organized to scope up with present engineering job standards. We create an inspiring atmosphere for students to explore their innovative skills through various extracurricular activities.

Our alumni (Graduates with Bachelor’s Degrees) have distinguished themselves both in academia and industry, and continue to inspire our current generation of students. Most of them have been placed in various reputed industries/academic institute such as BARC Mumbai, DRDO, ONGC Surat, GAIL, IOC Ltd., Tata Chemical Ltd. (Fertilizer Div.), Babrala, Reliance industries Ltd., Jamnagar, Nerolac paints, Kanpur, Lupin pharma Ltd., Bhopal etc. Some of them joined IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT BHU, NIT Jaipur, NIT Jalandhar, NIT Rourkela, AMU Aligarh etc. for higher education.

Our department seeks to produce Chemical Engineers who will contribute to the progress of the nation.
